On December 24, 1865 at Pulaski TN, there assembled in a small brick building, the law office of Judge Thomas M. Jones, six young men who were soldiers in the Confederate States Army. They had lost all their property, there were no business prospects for them at the time; it was Christmas eve and their town was saddened not only by the wreckage of the Civil War, but by the visitation of a cyclone which had killed and injured many of its inhabitants and destroyed many homes; yet the spirit of youth could not be conquered in their hearts. One of these young men , Captain John  C. Lester said:

"Boys, lets start something to break this monotony, and to cheer up our mothers and the girls. Lets start a club of some kind."

The evening was spent in obtaining their object--- diversion and amusement .Two committees were appointed to select a name and to prepare a set of  rules for the government of the order and the initiation of future members. They then adjourned to meet the following week.

Before the arrival of the next meeting one of the young men, Captain John B. Kennedy was requested to stay in the home of Col. Thomas Martin, for its protection while he and his family was absent from Pulaski. Captain Kennedy invited the other organizers of the club, Frank O. McCord, Calvin E. Jones , John C. Lester, Richard R. Reed and James R. Crowe, to meet him there.

During the evening the organization was perfected. Captain John B. Kennedy, on the committee to select a name mentioned one he had considered, "Kukloi,"from the Greek word  "Kuklos," meaning band or circle. James R. Crowe said "Call it Ku Klux," and no one will know what it means. John C. Lester said:   "Add Klan as we are all Scotch-Irish descent."

He then repeated the words : "Ku Klux Klan," the first time these words ever fell from human tongue.

This is a white man's organization exalting the Caucasian race and teaching the doctrine of white supremacy. This does not mean that we are enemies of the colored and mongrel races. But it does mean we are united to establish solidarity and to realize the mission of the white race. All of Christian civilization depends upon the preservation and up building of the white race, and it is the mission of the Knights of the White Disciples to proclaim this doctrine until the white race comes back into its own.

The Knights of the White Disciples core beliefs are to restore America back to being a white Christian nation free from drugs, homosexuality, immigration, and race mixing which we attribute to our Country's downfall. We are proud of our race, history, and our traditions.
